Echo pedal power for annual Christmas fundraiser

By Brenda Mockler

THE Echo Newspaper will host its first annual Christmas fundraising event on Thursday, November 30 and Friday, December 1.

Our chosen charity partners for 2017 are Tallaght Cancer Support Group and Suzanne House, with all proceeds being divided between these two local charities.

Echo staff will take part in a cycling challenge over the two-day event, which will take place in The Square shopping centre on November 30 and in the Tallaght Cancer Support Group office on Main Street, Tallaght, on December 1.

Staff are hoping to reach a target of €5,000 through bucket-shaking on the days of the event and through their GoFundMe page, which will go live today, see Echo Facebook for details.

Managing Director of The Echo, Emma Kennedy said; “We have always donated to charity at Christmas time, but this year we wanted to embark on a bigger fundraiser that we could turn into an annual event supporting local charities that give so much to the community, who are also our Echo readers.

“This year [our first year] we chose charities that are also our neighbours, and after seeing first-hand the amazing work both Tallaght Cancer Support Group and Suzanne House do, it was an easy decision to make.

“We decided what better way to raise money than by getting all of The Echo staff involved, who are delighted to be helping out.

“We want the whole community of Echo readers to get behind us and either donate through the GoFundMe page, or even better come and see us on November 30 in The Square or December 1 at Tallaght Cancer Support on Main Street Tallaght, for some fun and to meet your local reporters”.
