THE family of murdered Tallaght man Kenneth Fetherston has re-issued an appeal for information on the death of the father of one, who should be celebrating his 33rd birthday this week.

The remains of 26-year-old Kenneth Fetherston were discovered on the remote Military Road on January 31, 2010 – four months after he was last seen in Landy’s Industrial Estate, Knocklyon, on September 22, 2009.

Kenneth, who worked in the car industry, had at the time been driving a red Honda Civic – which was found on a slip road in Gorey, County Wexford, three days after he was reported missing by his family.

During an inquest into Kenneth’s death in 2012, deputy state pathologist Dr Michael Curtis said Kenneth was stabbed multiple times with injuries evident in the skull and neck – with Gardaí believing that Kenneth did not die in the place where he was found.

Since the discovery of Kenneth’s remains, a number of people have been arrested and questioned over the death of the young father – who is believed to have been murdered following a dispute over money owed to him.

However, nobody has yet been charged with his murder.

Speaking with The Echo this week, Kenneth’s dad Brian said: “We should have been celebrating Ken’s 33rd birthday on May 20, instead we are appealing to the public for information on his murder.

“Ken wasn’t a criminal and didn’t have links to criminal gangs and because of that we feel he has been forgotten about by the system.

“The gardaí and Minister for Justice are so focused on showing the public that they are doing something in relation to all of the gangland murders in the city that cases like Ken’s are simply forgotten about.

“The high-profile criminal murder cases are getting all of the resources, while people like my son Ken are forgotten. It’s not acceptable.”

He added: “I have nothing but admiration for the gardaí who searched the mountains for my son, however, we need more support.

“We are trying to deal with this, but nobody is helping us.

“It’s been left to our family to keep this in the public arena and to re-issue appeals for information.

“All we’re asking for is a result, we want those responsible brought to court and we want justice.

“We miss Ken every day, it’s not easy and his loss will never go away.

“However, a conviction will make a big difference and, while it won’t bring him back, at least we know his murderer isn’t walking the streets.”

Tallaght Superintendent Peter Duff told The Echo: “A file was sent to the DPP [Director of Public Prosecutions] at the time but the DPP ruled no prosecution at the time.

“Kenneth’s case is still very much open and we would be appealing for anybody with information to come forward.

“Any information which may assist the investigation would be appreciated and people can talk to us here at Tallaght Garda station in confidence or call the Garda Confidential Line.”

Anybody with information is encouraged to contact Tallaght Garda Station on 6666000 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
