Fire safety audit for two local schools
FIRE SAFETY audits are to be carried out in two schools in Lucan.
The audits will be carried out by the Department of Education and Skills on Lucan East ETNS and Griffeen Valley ETNS.
The Department of Education and Skills say that the schools are safe.
The announcement comes in response to ‘fire stopping’ issues identified recently in a number of school buildings that were constructed in 2008 under the Rapid Build Programme. Regarding these schools, a DES statement states that:
“It is anticipated it will take approximately six months to complete the fire safety audits on the school buildings that were constructed under the Rapid Build Programme.
“The sample audit is expected to be concluded by January 2018.
“The Department has also set up a special email address to which schools can email any queries which arise from this announcement. The email address is PBUQueries@education.gov.ie.“
