THIS was the skyline in Tallaght Village earlier today, after construction crews began demolishing Bruce House to pave the way for a five-story mixed use development.

Once home to Bank of Ireland, Bruce House, located beside Priorsgate on Main Road, was in more recent years the location of Threshold Training Network.

Earlier today, Friday, April 23, Bruce House was no more after construction crews were spotted on site demolishing the landmark building.

Planning permission was granted by South Dublin County Council for a five-storey building to house a retail unit and 31 apartments in August 2018.

This permission, granted to Irish Residential Properties REIT Plc was appealed to An Bord Pleanala by Tallaght Community Council (TCC) in September 2018.

An Bord Pleanala upheld the council’s decision, subject to a number of conditions.
