The boy, who has an address in Tallaght, is charged with four counts of dangerous driving, no insurance and no driving licence at a location in Tallaght on January 14, 2016.

The court heard it will be alleged that at 11pm on January 14 last a garda was on patrol when he observed a car driving at speed.

The conditions were quite icy. The car drove over a number of speed bumps at speed and then broke a red light before losing control.

The accused and three other males got out of the car.

As the boy was under 14 at the time of the incident, the DPP need to issue a special direction for the case to proceed.

The boy’s solicitor, Michael Hennessy, told Judge Patricia McNamara that the prosecuting garda was still waiting for the special direction from the DPP to proceed with the case.

Judge McNamara remanded the boy on continuing bail for a month for DPP directions.
