Free health and wellbeing events during Health Awareness Month
CLONDALKIN Health Awareness Month is swinging into action this October with a free health and wellbeing showcase taking placing in Rowlagh Community Centre this week.
On Tuesday, October 11, the Clondalkin Health and Wellbeing showcase will incorporate a diverse range of different activities and stalls for all in the community.
Running from 9am to 3pm, the free event, which will bring more than 20 services from Clondalkin and the surrounding community together, will also include a free raffle and goodie bags for attendees.
With an aim of showing locals the plethora of services available, there will be dozens of stands about mental health, smoking cessation, financial health, community activities, local amenity and more.
There is also workshops scheduled and different interactive events on the day, including a Marie Keating cancer screening workshop, a dementia workshop, gambling addiction speaker and meditation session.
These four activities require booking, which can be done by contacting 0872131854.
Community Health Coordinator in Clondalkin, Jacqueline Sheehy, is looking forward to seeing the event bringing all of the services together once again.
“This event is really important for everyone in the community,” Ms Sheehy told The Echo.
“The goal of the Clondalkin Health and Wellbeing showcase is to join services together, show people what is available to them, and help facilitate a regrowth in services.
“This just reinforces the network of services that’s already there, and we’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone to Rowlagh Community Centre.”
Throughout October, there are 12 different events being run as part of Clondalkin Health Awareness Month.
Each week in Rowlagh Community Centre, there is a footfall of around 100 people availing of different programmes as part of the Clondalkin Health Project.
