
Fulltime carer (53) was very apologetic when he sobered up
A FULLTIME carer for his partner was fined at Tallaght District Court for public intoxication.
Aidan Gavan (53), with an address of Harelawn Park, Clondalkin, appeared before court charged with section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act, 1994 as amended by Section 22 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act 2008.
Garda Steven Williams told the court that on July 27, 2023, the accused was arrested in the Cookstown area as he was intoxicated in a public place and a level of intoxication that presented a danger to himself and the public.
Defence solicitor Padraig O’Donovan noted his client was very apologetic when he sobered up on the date in question, has no previous for this offence and is not working as he is caring for his partner and anxious to get back to his partner.
The court heard Mr Gavan has 45 previous convictions.
Judge John O’Leary fined the defendant €200 with four months to pay.
