GAA Club delivers 150 Easter Care hampers

THERE was egg-citement all around as a local GAA Club delivered Easter care hampers to over 150 homes last weekend.

Thomas Davis GAA Club members and volunteers were out in force over the Easter weekend to deliver special hampers to some of the senior members of the club along with some of the elderly people in the community who have supported the club over the years.

Each of the Easter care hampers included an easter egg with plenty of goodies, a South Dublin County Council Hope booklet, a custom Thomas Davis Easter Card, and a Thomas Davis wall calendar.

Colin Brown - Thomas Davis PRO, told The Echo that it was “very important” to look after the people that have helped Thomas Davis and their local communities over the years.

“Many of the people we delivered to are former players, coaches, managers, supporters, committee members, local volunteers and long-time supporters of Thomas Davis, so for us it was great to be able to give them a small gift to let them know we are thinking of them during these hard times.”

“We met some very familiar faces on our drop offs including club president Father Lucey, who is currently assisting in Kiltipper Woods nursing home along with long standing club members and club lotto ticket sellers Shay Kane, Eddie McDonald and Noely Ennis who is currently recovering from a long spell in hospital. We wish Noely all the best in his recovery.

“We very much look forward to welcoming all our club members back to Kiltipper Road in the coming months as restrictions ease up.

Thanking all who helped, Colin concluded: “Many thanks to all the club volunteers who helped out with the deliveries and hampers, special mention to Aideen O’Hara, Niamh Maguire, Terry Carthy and Marie Brown for putting it all together.”
