Husband broke garage shelves after pushing wife against them

A HUSBAND who broke two shelves in a garage when he pushed his wife against them left Blanchardstown District Court with a €100 fine. Patrick Lawrence also paid €50 compensation for the shelves, reports Brendan Grehan.
Lawrence, aged 25, with an address at Liffey Hall, Liffey Valley, Lucan, pleaded guilty to engaging in threatening and abusive behaviour and damaging two shelves at the Texaco filling station, Ballydowd, Lucan, on June 12, 2017.

Sergeant Maria Callaghan told Judge David McHugh that at 1.50am on the above date, the gardai had been called to the Texaco station in Ballydowd as a man and a woman were arguing in the shop. She said Lawrence pushed his wife against two shelves, breaking them.
Sgt Callaghan said Lawrence told the gardai that he was having an argument with his wife.
She said Lawrence had eight previous convictions and added that the damage to the shelves came to €50.
Lawrence’s solicitor, William Cadogan, told Judge McHugh that his client wanted to apologise for his actions. He said Lawrence and his wife had been out drinking. He asked the judge to leave Lawrence without a conviction.
Convicting, Judge McHugh fined Lawrence €100 for the breaching the peace and ordered him to pay €50 compensation for the shelves.
