Gardai and DFB called to several serious incidents on busy Friday night in the capital

It was a busy night for the emergency services on Friday evening as they dealt with several serious road traffic collisions, while mandatory alcohol testing checkpoints also took place in locations including Lucan.

Members of Dublin Fire Brigade from Blanchardstown were called to a crash in Dublin last night, with one person taken to hospital as a precaution due to potential spinal injuries.

A message from DFB said: “B’Town’s Fire Engine and Ambulance responded to this single vehicle rollover RTC late last night. Driver to hospital with spinal precautions.”

Elsewhere, a driver suspected of driving under the influence in Clonsilla was involved in serious collision that led to one person being taken to hospital.

Gardai shared the images which show the car on its roof and partially in a ditch at the side of the road.

The message from gardai said: “DMR West Traffic Unit on Clonsilla Rd. 1 person taken to Connolly Memorial Hosp. Suspected DUI.No injuries. NEVER EVER DRINK AND DRIVE.”

In Lucan gardai manned a Mandatory Alcohol Testing checkpoint on the Fonthill Road, with no reports of any positive tests.

However, gardai did arrest a driver in Leixlip last night for drink-driving, with the motorist already being disqualified and having no insurance or driving licence.

Earlier in the day members of the DFB dealt with a car fire on the Bohernabreena Road, while they were also called to gorse fire just off the M50 at Junction 15 (Carrickmines).

Motorists are reminded that road condition could deteriorate today due to dropping road temperatures, with snow expected to a fall in parts of Leinster, coming from the East coast.
