Gardai investigating discovery of human remains by member of the public
An investigation is underway this morning after human remains were discovered in County Wicklow.
The discovery was made by a member of the public on Saturday evening at 7:45pm.
The scene at Military Road in Enniskerry has been sealed off and is being preserved for a technical examination.
In a statement released by Gardai this morning, a spokesperson said: “Gardai at Bray are investigating the discovery of human remains at Military Rd, Enniskerry, Co Wicklow.
“The discovery was made by a member of the public at approximately 7.45pm on Saturday evening who immediately contacted Gardaí.
“The scene of the discovery is preserved for a Garda forensic examination. The office of the State Pathologist and the local Coroner has been notified.
“The remains have yet to be identified and enquires are ongoing. Searches at the site are continuing and no further information is available at this time
“Investigating Gardai are appealing for any person who may have seen anything suspicious in the area or who may have information in relation to this investigation to contact Bray Garda Station on 01-666 5300, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 -666- 111 or any Garda Station.”
A large area has been closed off, with the AA reporting Militiray Road is closed between the Peace and Reconciliation Centre in Glencree and the Featherbeds junction.
