Haircut for Grace raises almost €800 for LauraLynn

A LOCAL schoolgirl donated 12 inches of her hair to the Little Princess Trust, to be used to create wigs for children who have lost their hair as a result of cancer treatment, and raised €790 for LauraLynn – Ireland’s Children’s Hospice in the process.

Nine-year-old Grace Mockler from Old Bawn in Tallaght, decided to donate her hair after finding out about the Little Princess Trust two years ago, when one of her friends donated her hair to the charity.

Grace, a pupil in Sacred Heart National School in Clondalkin, went to the Beautique Beauty Studio in Ballymount to get her hair cut in order to make the donation.

The Tallaght girl had been growing out her hair for the past two years to ensure that there would be enough length for it to go to the Little Princess Trust.

She’s delighted with her new haircut, and is happy knowing that the hair that was cut off is going to a good cause.

Grace’s mam, Sinead Dale, told The Echo: “I’m just really proud of her and really happy. I hope it goes to some poor little kid who needs it and gives them a bit more confidence.”

The charitable young girl combined this with a fundraiser for LauraLynn, which saw the children’s hospice charity receive €790.

Sinead added: “I was over the moon when I saw how much had been raised, everyone was so kind and generous.

“Grace is really happy and appreciative, and surprised about how much was raised.”
