Hanrahan strikes twice

TALLAGHT Athletic Club’s Jennifer Hanrahan captured a brace of medals at the National Junior Track and Field Championships in Morton Stadium last weekend.

Following a number of the sound performances at the National Senior Championships a fortnight earlier when she reached the final of both the 100m and long jump, the young athlete produced an impressive leap of 5.73m to take silver in the long jump.

She followed that up with a bronze medal in the 100m Final in which she clocked 12.36- an improvement on the time of 12.54 that saw her win Heat Two and earn automatic qualification for the title race.

Ronan Long, meanwhile, posted a time of 53.10 in Heat Four of the Junior Men’s 400m, but just missed out on a berth in the final while Nadislane Kobongo came home fifth in Heat Three of the 100m in a time of 13.24.

The previous weekend saw Hanrahan and Kobongo contested the Senior 200m where they finished third and seventh with respective times of 25.02 and 26.80 while Tomas Fitzpatrick clocked 32:23.32 in the final of the 10,000m.
