Have your say at Camac public consultation days

PUBLIC consultations on the River Camac flood alleviation scheme are being held this Tuesday and Wednesday in Clondalkin and Inchicore.

In Clondalkin, the public consultation will take place on Tuesday, June 28, between 1pm and 8pm in the Clondalkin Civic Offices across from The Mill.

On Wednesday, June 29, a second consultation will take place in Richmond Barracks, Inchicore, from 1pm to 8pm.

The flood alleviation scheme (FAS) is currently exploring options to help manage flood risk within the catchment area, with the Project Team providing an update on this work during the public consultations.

Engineering company AECOM will also provide details of the potential measures that have been identified to alleviate flooding.

On the day, Dublin City Council, the lead authority, South Dublin County Council, the OPW and AECOM will be present to answer any questions.

According to DCC, the purpose of these events is to gain the public’s view on the options, and to ensure that these views are considered at the next stage of the project.

People are encouraged to drop in anytime for a chat or to hear a 30-minute presentation.

Presentation times on both days are 1pm, 3.30pm and 7pm.

The Camac runs from its source near Saggart Hill to the outfall to the River Liffey at Heuston Station.

According to the scheme website, the Camac is a heavily urbanised watercourse, which brings challenges, both for flood risk management and environmentally, especially in light of climate change.
