Here’s what you can expect from this year’s Palmerstown Festival

Palmerstown Festival is back this week, with the official launch taking place last night on Manor Road.

There’s an exciting line-up of events taking place around the town, with live music, memorial events and sport throughout the weekend.

Kids will get the chance to let off some steam on Thursday evening, with a sports event taking place at Pobalscoil Iosolde secondary school in Johnstown from 6:00-7:30 pm.

Immediately after, there will be the planting of a Tree of Hope in Waterstown Park. The ceremony will in memory of those who have lost their lives to suicide or have been affected by it.

Friday night promises to be fun with a street party on Manor Road from 7-9pm. The street party promises an open mic, live bands and a DJ. Kids can enjoy bouncy castles and balloon art.

St. Patrick’s GAA Club will host a GAA blitz on their grounds on Saturday with sports demos, bouncy castles and foot darts. This event lasts from 2-5pm in Glenaulin Park.

Later that night, Joshua Tree will perform at the gorgeous Palmerstown House. The U2 tribute act will perform from 9:30 pm.

Waterstown Park will host some great events for families and dog lovers on Sunday. Kicking off at 2 pm, the Family Fun Day will have a dog show, dance shows, music and face painting. The weather on Sunday is set to be cloudy, but the rain should hold off enough for families to eat in the picnic area. Family fun day will wrap up at 6pm.

Later that evening, the Palmerstown Community and Youth Centre in Palmerston Park will host a tea dance. This 19th century traditional dance will feature a garden party with music and food.
