Holohan MA to follow up on successful World Championship

FOLLOWING a hugely successful outing in the BJJ Junior World Championships in Wolverhampton, Holohan Martial Arts is gearing up for more domestic and international tournaments over the coming months.

Fielding a squad of 32 competitors, the club chalked up a haul of 21 medals, including 11 silver and 10 bronze in England earlier this month.

“It was a brilliant team effort from everyone who went across, parents included” said Holohan MA Academy Manager, Chelsea Hudson.

“Our youngest competitor was Finn O’Neill who is five and our eldest was Tori Warren who is 17.

“Our kids classes start from age 4+, so it’s a brilliant way for the children to develop through learning martial arts, team building and games and then eventually competing if they want to” added Hudson.

Next up for the club will be the Grapple Industries contest on July 31 in which they will be fielding at least 11 competitors, namely Cian, Tori and Zach Warren, Niamh Fitzpatrick, Taylor Evans, Danielle Tutty, Sarah Carney, James O’Keeffe, Stephen Molloy, Sean Farrell and Shauna Bannon.

Following that, there will be a return to Wolverhampton in September for the Elite BJJ European Championships.

And in between will be a charity Novice MMA competition in Portarlington on Sunday, August 14.
