Home is where the heart is for Tallaght’s Dean Gibbons

By Mary Dennehy

LIFE has been quickly changing for Tallaght lad Dean Gibbons, who is one sixth of rising Irish boy-band HomeTown – which this week releases their debut album.

Managed by Louis Walsh, HomeTown has released their 11-track debut album, HomeTown, ahead of a show in Vicar Street this December 4, when members Dean, Josh Gray, from Blessington, Brendan Murray, Cian Morrin, Dayl Cronin and Ryan McLoughlin take to the city centre stage.

Together since May 2013, the six piece notched up the fastest selling single from a debut artist and quickest selling single from an Irish artist in 2014 with their hit Where I Belong - which was penned by Kodaline.

Over the past 12 months, they have also supported Shane Filan on his Irish tour and played to a 14,000 strong crowd at the annual Childline concert in Dublin 3Arena – while embarking on their own nationwide tour.

The lads now have their sights rightly fixed on the UK, where they released their single in August, ahead of a UK tour.

Over the last few days, HomeTown has been out meeting fans at album signings across the country and despite a hectic schedule, Tallaght member Dean Gibbons, a former student of MacDara’s in Templeogue, took five to speak with his local paper.
