‘It’s a record’ in relation to 566 previous convictions

A WOMAN with 566 previous convictions earned her 557th in Blanchardstown Court this week. Jennifer Armstrong was not present in court.

Hearing the extent of Armstrong’s convictions, Judge David McHugh said: “It’s a record”.

Armstrong, aged 41, of no fixed abode, was charged with public drunkenness on the Lucan Road, Lucan, on January 7, 2017.

Garda Michael McLoughlin told the court that on January 7 last, he responded to a call at 4pm and found Armstrong asleep on a bus on the Lucan Road.

He said he attempted to wake Armstrong up and found her to be intoxicated. Garda McLoughlin said that when Armstrong did get up she hit her head against the side of the bus.

Sergeant Maria Callaghan said Armstrong has 566 previous convictions.

Judge McHugh said: “it’s a record.”

He added: “The poor lady. She seems to be in some difficulty.”

Convicting, he fined Armstrong €100.
