Leaving Cert student gets power of speech back after Padre Pio ‘miracle’

A LEAVING CERT student who lost her voice for over 13 weeks had it restored after she was visited by a Padre Pio healer.

Maria Doorley, from Palmerstown, who has just turned 19, is a student in St Joseph’s College in Lucan.

Nearly three weeks ago, Jimmy Wynne, from Balrothery in Tallaght, visited her with his Padre Pio relic and prayed over her.

Jimmy told The Echo: “I blessed her with the relic and pressed my hands on her neck. The next day her mother Sheena rang me to say that Maria had got her voice back.”

Maria had lost her voice 13 weeks before and had been told by The Ear Nose and Throat Hospital that there was nothing physically wrong with her. She said: “Jimmy left that night at 11.30. I just went to bed. When I woke up the next morning I could speak again.”

Maria and her family will be attending a Mass of Thanksgiving this Friday evening (June 3) in St Aengus’s church, Balrothery, at eight o’clock. Jimmy says that all are welcome to attend and give thanks for the ‘miracle’.

Maria hopes to do a beauty and body therapy course in September.

Maria’s mother, Sheena, said the family had tried a number of therapies before a friend put them in touch with Jimmy.

Sheena said: “Maria would be prone to laryngitis. So we thought it was a throat infection and thought she would get better. Then we brought her to the ENT hospital and they examined her and said there was nothing physically wrong. They wanted her to not do her exams but Maria was adamant she wanted to continue with the Leaving Cert. They set up speech therapy and she did it for a number of weeks but there was no improvement.”

Sheena said they tried a number of therapies including reiki and energy week, but things changed for the better after they returned from a study weekend in Spain.

Sheena said: “Out of the blue a friend contacted me to say a healer was going to visit us. It turned out Jimmy had healed her some years ago. He is a Padre Pio healer. He came over and blessed Maria and the next day she got up and she could talk. Her voice was cut off. It was gone for over 13 weeks.”

Jimmy was given the Padre Pio relic by his sister Elaine Quinn, who has been a curer for nearly 40 years – and was presented with a piece of the Italian monk’s cloak that was soaked with his blood.

“Elaine gave me a smaller relic, which is a piece of Padre Pio’s cloak”, Jimmy said. “I’ve had this relic for around nine years and in that time I have seen amazing things.

He added: “I can’t explain how the relic works, but I think it’s the energy between the relic and a person’s belief and their response to it.”
