Residents in one Tallaght estate were left highly bemused after this piece of machinery was left behind by a crew working in the area on Tuesday.

The machinery was left on a green space in Kilnamanagh on Tuesday evening and remained there overnight – catching the attentions of locals, who raised health and safety concerns around its unsupervised presence.

The machinery was being used by crews carrying out urgent repair work for ESB Networks on the 110KV overhead line in the Kilnamanagh area.

When contacted by The Echo on Wednesday morning, a spokesperson for ESB said: “The machinery used to carry out the work was hired by a third-party company.

“Unfortunately, the company was unable to collect the machinery from the site yesterday evening and it remained there overnight.

“Works continued [on Wednesday] and the machinery will be taken away once all repair work is complete [on Wednesday] evening.”

The spokesperson added: “Public safety is ESB Network’s primary concern and the issue has been raised with all parties.

“ESB Networks would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
