Man (22) accused of assaulting his father by punching him in the face

A CLONDALKIN man has been accused of assaulting his father by punching him in the face.

Jamie Doherty was remanded on continuing bail at Blanchardstown District Court.

Mr Doherty, aged 22 with an address at Shancastle Lawns, Clondalkin, is charged with assault causing harm to his father at that address on December 16 last year.

Sergeant Maria Callaghan said the DPP directed summary disposal of the case in the district court.

She said it was alleged on the date in question, the accused’s father told gardai he had been assaulted. It was alleged he was “punched numerous times in the face” with a fist and had bruising to the left side of his face and a scratch on his neck.

The court heard he did not get any medical treatment.

Judge Jones ordered disclosure of prosecution material and remanded the accused on continuing bail in his absence to June 3.
