Man allegedly found in possession of blank pistol in Clondalkin

A YOUNG MAN who was allegedly found in possession of a blank pistol will face trial in the Circuit Court.

Judge David McHugh refused jurisdiction in Sean Smith’s case.

Smith, aged 20, with an address at Hermitage Park, Kilcullen, County Kildare, is charged with possession of a 9mm Rohm RG blank pistol at an address at Lealand  Close in Clondalkin, on May 22, 2015.

Sergeant Geraldine McManigan told Judge McHugh that the DPP had directed summary disposal. 

Judge McHugh asked what was alleged. Sgt McManigan said it will be alleged that on May 22, 2015, the gardai carried out a search of a house in Lealand Close and found a 9mm gun under a bed.

She said it will be alleged that Smith was one of three males in the house at the time and admitted to ownership of the gun.

Judge McHugh said he was refusing jurisdiction.

He remanded Smith on continuing bail for six weeks for service of the book of evidence.
