LONG-distance runner Mark Conlon took time off from his job as a security guard on the Luas to present a cheque of €8k to the Inner City Helping Homeless (ICHH) charity, reports Maurice Garvey.

Conlon was at the Mansion House on Tuesday afternoon to meet Lord Mayor Niall Ring and present a cheque to Anthony Flynn, CEO Inner City Homeless.

Conlon, a Bawnogue resident, recently completed 10 marathons in 10 days to raise funds for the charity.

Last year Conlon completed 33 marathons in 33 days for the Peter McVerry Trust, but “wasn’t happy with only raising €3,000” and wanted to do more this year.

“I decided to go for ICHH as they are a non-government funded charity non-profit, and they save lives every night,” said Mark Conlon.

“I just want to thank all the businesses who supported me this year, without them it wouldn’t have been possible. It really is a team effort.”

Mark plans to continue his marathon efforts for charity next year.
