Masterson joins up with QPR
CONOR Masterson has penned a deal that sees him join Championship outfit Queens Park Rangers on a two-year deal after having been released by Liverpool.
The Republic of Ireland Under 21 international centre half looked to have been knocking on the door of first team action at Anfield, but injury saw him struggle to stay in the reckoning this year.
Conor Masterson.
And with the huge competition for places in defence in Liverpool, the former Lucan United player was always going to find it difficult to make the breakthrough.
Certainly Ireland Under 21 manager Stephen Kenny values his services and will be pleased at seeing the young defender get an opportunity to play first team football in the Championship.
Looking forward to the start of the new chapter in his career, Masterson told www.qpr.co.uk. “To sign for QPR is an honour and a privilege and I can’t wait to get started.
“I learnt so much during my time with Liverpool, had some unbelievable experiences and I think that will carry through into QPR.”
“Mentally it was very tough, but you learn from it and it makes you stronger.
“You have your ups and downs in football. That was my down and hopefully this move is one of my ups.
“I can guarantee the fans I will give everything in every game” he stressed.
Pleased with the latest addition to his squad, QPR boss Mark Warburton said “I have watched Conor’s progress and he is another young player with a lot of potential in him.”
