More than 20 local sports clubs to benefit from Sports Capital Grants

More than 20 local clubs and several local South Dublin County Council and Dublin City Council parks have been announced as recipients in this year’s Sports Capital Programme.
€200.000 has been allocated to Lucan Harriers Athletic Club to upgrade the running track in Griffeen Valley Park, while Lucan United (Airlie Heights) have been awarded €150.000 for their all-weather facility next to their clubhouse.
Among the other local clubs to awarded large amounts were Round Towers GAA and St Pat’s GAA in Palmerstown, who were both allocated €150.000 to build new clubhouses.
Thomas Davis GAA Club and Templeogue Lawn Tennis Club were also granted €150.000, while Terenure Sports Club will receive €141.329.
Commercials GAA Club in Rathcoole (€66,780), Faughs GAA club (€35,539), Ballyboden St Enda’s (€69,987) and Lucan Sarsfields GAA Club (€29,774) were also granted large sums, while Ballyfermot Youth Service received €29.030.
Other notable recipients include Bawnogue Boxing Club (€4,406), Clondalkin Cricket Club (€5,584), Fortunestown Swimming Club (€1,060), Old County Pitch and Putt Club (€10,656), Tallaght Martial Arts (€15,000), South Dublin Taekwondo (€6,908) and Terenure College RFC (€25,000).
Among the Dublin City parks that have been awarded grants are Bluebell, Brickfields, Bushy, Dolphin Road, Eamonn Ceannt, Galtymore, Makievicz Park and Walkinstown Green.
Meanwhile Tymon Park and Tymon Park – Wellington Lane are also included, with each being awarded €150.000 and €85.000 respectively, while Tallaght Leisure Centre will receive €6,826.
