Mountpark Logistics concluded an agreement, with leading pharmaceutical distributor, United Drug, to lease Unit A of the Mountpark Baldonnell Development.

The long-term lease will see United Drug locate their main warehouse facility in the €40m purpose-built logistics development in Mountpark, with the completion of this deal meaning the development is now fully leased.

In February, the first tenant was confirmed for the €40m logistics hub when it was announced that Mountpark concluded an agreement with its first tenant, Home Store and More.

To date, the Baldonnell logistics hub has employed more than 740 people in construction and has seen South Dublin County Council reap €2.3m in developer fees.

United Drug is Ireland’s largest pharmaceutical distribution company and is part of McKesson Europe, a leading company in the healthcare sector, with strong brands across 13 European countries.

The new United Drug site is located at Barney’s Lane on the N7 Naas Road and the new unit is a 118,882 sq ft purpose-built logistics and warehousing building.

It was completed on schedule, in under nine months, by contractors MAC.

United Drug worked with Mountpark from an early stage to ensure that the project would meet their specific needs.

Work has already begun on the final fit-out of the unit, with United Drug likely to begin operations in Baldonnell in mid-2019.

Managing Director of United Drug, Paul Reilly said: “As Ireland’s largest pharmaceutical distribution company, we are committed to delivering a sustainable, efficient and cost-effective service.

“This new facility reflects these commitments and will support our growth as we continue to enhance and expand our services to meet the evolving needs of our customers.

“This new facility has been specified to meet our logistics requirements and offers increased capacity as we continue to expand – we are delighted to be entering a partnership with Mountpark Logistics.”

Mountpark Logistics Managing Director Philip O’Callaghan said: “We are delighted to announce that United Drug will be the tenant for Unit A in Mountpark Baldonnell.

“Since launching in 2018 we have seen huge interest in this, our first Irish project.

“There is a clear need for projects which are specifically designed to meet the requirements of handling and logistics companies operating in the age of e-commerce.

“We have worked with United Drug over many months and are proud to have delivered a building which will meet their requirements both today and for many years to come.

“The two units at Baldonnell are leased to major Irish employers, leaders in their respective markets.

“Unit A is now being fitted out and Unit B steel frame construction is well advanced and currently ahead of schedule.

“We are now looking to build on the success of Mountpark Baldonnell and are actively looking for other projects in South Dublin.”
