Murray gets the perfect Angle’

NIALL Murray has extended his lead in the BRSCC British National Formula Ford 1600 Championship to 98 points after chalking up yet another double win in Anglesey last weekend.

He was coming into this outing off the back of another superb double in Brands Hatch although he was pipped for pole position by compatriot Kevin O’Hara – a gap of just two hundredths of a second separating the two drivers.

Yet just after the first corner O’Hara ran wide, handing the lead to Murray and from that point onwards, the Murray Motorsport supported race leader continued on to extend his advantage to more than six seconds, setting the fastest lap in the process.
The win meant he started Race Two from pole, but he was overtaken by Jake Byrne on the first corner.

Still he bided his time before retaking the lead as he exited Church corner and again registered the fastest lap before racing home for a five-second victory.

Delighted with the win Murray said “It’s been another fantastic weekend at Anglesey in the BRSCC FF1600 Championship getting two comfortable wins and both with the fastest lap to extend my lead of the championship to provisionally 98 points.

“It’s also been another amazing job by Bernard and Sam Dolan to give me the best car out there.

“Being able to set the same time in each race that I did in qualifying shows how good the car is especially at an abrasive and hot track such as Anglesey,” he pointed out.

Murray will soon be heading to Donington Park for Rounds 13 and 14 of the championship on August 27/28.
