N81 Crash: Correctly fitted child seat saved toddler’s life

The importance of fitting a child seat correctly was highlighted last night after three people, including a young toddler, were involved in a road traffic accident on the N81.

The single-vehicle crash happened at approximately 11pm on Thursday night near Crooksling, with the vehicle overturning into a ditch.

Emergency services rushed to the scene where the two adult passengers had just escaped from the vehicle.

The one-year-old child was still inside the car, upside down, but fully secure in the car seat, which was said to have saved her life.

All three were assessed by advanced Paramedics from the National Ambulance Service and transported to Tallaght Hospital as a precaution.

A source told to Echo.ie that the toddler could have easily been ejected out of the seat had it not been properly secured.

Gardai confirmed to Echo.ie that members of the Terenure Traffic Corps attended the scene, with no other vehicles involved
