Now’s time to nominate the Grand Marshall . . .
PUBLIC nominations will decide which lucky person is Grand Marshal at this year’s Clondalkin St Patrick’s Day parade.
Numerous candidates are in contention to lead the Clondalkin parade this year, which was resurrected in 2014 and is going from strength to strength.
Festival organiser and Clondalkin councillor Francis Timmons (Ind) is “delighted” the Clondalkin parade will be returning to the village on March 17.
“The Grand Marshal for this year will be decided as usual by public nominations. Previous Grand Marshals include Mary Kennedy, Colm Gavin, Mary Dardis, Philip and Gemma Carr, Uimhir and last year it was Sello. Nominations are now open.”
A number of local groups are already signed up for the event.
Cllr Timmons continued: “So far we have Clondalkin Rugby Club, Elite Karate Academy, Martin Wade with his Classic Motorcycle. Francis Barnett Cruiser 80. Built in 1960 and Rose Academy so far this year. The Clondalkin Patrick’s day parade is always a family day out. We are sending out a callout to get involved and let’s make it the biggest and best parade so far.
“The feedback so far has been on the whole very positive and a lot are looking forward to a family day out full of fun and laughs. The K&G funfair will also be around on the day along with DJ Joey Howe keeping the crowd entertained.
“Rams will keep the crowd entertained before the parade. There are lots for everyone to see and do and have fun again. After the last two years we all need a bit of fun and a good day out. The parade is a chance to showcase all that is good about Clondalkin.”
Timmons urges residents to make their nominations for Grand Marshal HERE.
