Olympian gymnasts set to compete in Greece

OLYMPIAN Gymnastics Club will have a team travelling to Greece next week to participate in the ‘Cosmogym summer 4all’ international event.

This non-competitive gymnastics festival runs from July 9-14 and will see Olympian Odyssey perform twice over the six days.

Travelling will be 21 gymnasts, ranging in age from 9 to 17, along with four coaches and 13 supporters.

“The whole team is very excited about this trip,” said programme director is Caoimhe McCormack.

“They are training very hard at the moment leading into the build-up to the event and hope to make a big impression on the festival scene with a brand new routine,” she added.

It will mark the third time that Olympian Odyssey will have performed abroad this year.

Indeed, earlier in the year they travelled to Scotland for a local event before heading to Derry to participate in ‘Gymfusion’.

In the past the team has performed at a number of Eurogym’s – one of the biggest gymnastics festivals in Europe.

The team has also competed in the ‘World Gym For Life’ challenge in which they won bronze in their respective category.

On another note, Olympian Gymnastics’ new Gym in Old Bawn will open this September and registration is now open online. www.olympiangymnastics.com

This will be Olympian’s ninth venue in South Dublin and will see them offer new classes in the area, bolstered by brand new state-of-the-art equipment from Gymnova.

“Our new home in Old Bawn Community School will see our programme grow and we will look at expand-ing our display, creating more opportunities for other gymnasts to travel and perform at festivals” said Olympian’s Neil Gissane.
