Parents warned to be aware of thieves while bringing children to popular park

A MOTHER was shocked to discover her car had been broken into at a carpark at Corkagh Park, whilst she was visiting the playground with her two young daughters.
The incident occurred on a Saturday afternoon at the carpark on the St John’s side.

It led the mother to make a public appeal on social media for assistance in retrieving items stolen from her car.
She said the back window was smashed, and her purse with money and cards was stolen from the boot, along with Christmas toys for the kids from Smyths, and gold medals her recently deceased Grandmother gave her from Lourdes.
“My girls (4 and 6) were sobbing, they got such a fright seeing our car covered in glass,” she said.
“I am more upset over all my little keepsakes, especially a small gold medal my Nanny got me from Lourdes a few weeks before she died.”
The appeal on social media generated a positive response, and on Monday, November 19, a lady reported that she found a purse with her cards and ID at the carpark.
A subsequent search at the carpark miracously found the Lourdes medals discarded in a bush.
The mother thanked everyone for their help, and a “lovely lady” for finding her purse and cards.
A number of residents have warned people to be aware of thefts from vehicles at Corkagh Park, citing young males who are watching from a parked car.
A garda spokesperson told The Echo: “Gardai are investigating a reported theft of a purse from a vehicle at Corkagh Park, Clondalkin on November 17, at approximately 3.30pm. Investigations are ongoing.”
