The court had previously accepted jurisdiction in the case.

The court had heard it will be alleged that at 6.10pm on January 24 last, the injured party, a 16-year-old boy, had gone for a cycle and stopped outside a coffee shop to use the shop’s wifi and send a message to a friend.

The man approached the boy and allegedly put his hand on the crossbar of the bicycle and then on the saddle.

The man allegedly put his hand down and touched the boy’s penis through his tracksuit bottoms and asked the boy: “Do you like it?”. The boy replied: “No.”

The man’s defence lawyer, Emer O’Sullivan, asked Judge Patricia McNamara to certify for a psychiatric report under the legal aid scheme.

Certifying for the report, Judge McNamara remanded him on continuing bail to a date in December for a plea or a date for hearing.
