A HOUSING development for the former An Post sorting office on Tandy’s Lane in Lucan has been granted permission by South Dublin County Council.

The development was granted permission following the submission of further information by the applicant, DPB Ventures Ltd.

As previously reported in The Echo, the development proposal was met with two objections from Tandy’s Lane residents and local Fine Gael councillor William Lavelle.

Both submissions saw concerns raised about the height of the development and the impact it would have on privacy and overlooking of nearby residential homes.

There were also concerns raised about parking provision in the local area, with “significant” traffic congestion already occurring on a daily basis.

The additional information submitted addressed concerns from the council including the reduction of height in the dwelling in line with nearby residential homes.

Details on landscaping, boundaries and refuse storage were also submitted within the additional information.

A decision of grant permission was given by the council on September 9, and it will now see the development of five residential dwellings on the site.
