Playground approved for Stannaway Park

DUBLIN City Council recently posted letters to residents in Crumlin, informing them of details on the creation of a new playground in Stannaway Park.

The small play area for kids (aged 2-7) will blend in with the existing park at the Stannaway Road side of the park, and feature seating.

It is expected works will be carried out and completed before the end of 2016.

Welcoming the news, People Before Profit councillor Pat Dunne said it follows a “long period of lobbying”.

Cllr Dunne said: “Following the success of the playground in Pearse Park, this is a very welcome development. Stannaway Park has long been neglected so this plan, together with the provision of seating, will make the park more welcoming for all ages.

Seating and a play area will be funded through the discretionary funding agreed at a recent Dublin South Central area committee meeting.

Sinn Féin councillor Ray McHugh said: “I am delighted we were able to facilitate this project, as I have campaigned for playgrounds for Crumlin over many years.

“I feel at last Crumlin is getting what the children and people of Crumlin deserve, but we have more to do, and I will continue to campaign for amenities for Crumlin.”
