The awards received over 1,000 entries from student journalists, broadcasters and producers.

A returnee to the impressive line-up of judges this year was the Academy award nominated Lenny Abrahamson well-known now for his direction of the TV adaption of Sally Rooney’s novel ‘Normal People’.

Other distinguished judges on the night included Executive Producer of The Late Late Show, Kathy Fox who judged TV Production of the Year, and RTE journalist Samantha Libreri who judged Videographer of the Year.

Ciara Mahon, Manager of Oxygen.ie said: “It’s fantastic to see that even in the midst of a pandemic, the hard-work of these students could be acknowledged and celebrated. The standard of the media entries this year was phenomenal so I applaud each and every one of you who participated in the Smedias 2020.”
