Residents invited to have their say on future planning in Tallaght Town Centre

By Aura McMenamin

Some changes are coming to Tallaght Town Centre, and this summer you can have your say on what the future of the area might be like.

Tallaght residents are being invited to voice their ideas and air their opinions to South Dublin County Council as they prepare to examine a number of different issues for the future of planning in the area.

From July 3rd, you’ll be able to have your say before SDCC makes any changes to the layout of Tallaght Town Centre.

The areas that the plan will look at include Tallaght Village, the Square Shopping Centre, Sean Walsh Memorial Park, Cookstown Industrial area, South City Business Park, the Institute of Technology Tallaght, Belgard Road and Airton Road.

The local area plan (LAP) will look at how easy it is to travel around Tallaght town centre, the quality of our public spaces, the design of future buildings and what type of development should be encouraged in the area of the plan.

Locals have until 4pm on August 11th before the draft LAP is drawn, which will be accompanied by an environmental report.

If you want more information on how you can contribute to the pre-draft consultation, you can head down to Tallaght library, Castletymon Library or County Hall, Tallaght.

SDCC staff will be available to answer your general queries every Wednesday afternoon between 2pm-4pm, at County Hall.

To view an information leaflet with all the details of this consultation period, and submit your ideas, you can go here.
