The new U15 National League will begin in August of 2017 and further enhances the pathway young players have to our first team.

In a statement from the club they said: “We have repeatedly spoken about the importance of developing our own home grown players and the new U15 National League programme is a very significant part of our young player’s development.

“Damien is one of Ireland’s greatest ever players and his vast experience and knowledge of the game will be of immense benefit to the players and coaches that work with him.

“His addition to our Academy set-up strengthens an already very talented underage coaching staff which includes a large number with professional playing experience.

“With Phase One of our new training facility in Roadstone only days away from completion, our young players can look forward to working in a top class environment educated by the best coaches that this country has to offer.

“Shamrock Rovers will continue to show an unwavering commitment to improve our club from top to bottom and the news of Damien’s appointment to the Academy is just another example of our pursuit of excellence.”
