So What: Saibh’s new single has over 17K Spotify streams

Up-and-coming singer-songwriter Saibh Skelly recently released her new single, ‘So What?’, delving into what it’s like to quickly become infatuated with someone and fall in love.

The talented 18-year-old, who grew up in Templeogue and now lives in Walkinstown, wrote the song with Kaity Rae and Bill Maybury.

The track is accompanied by a sun-soaked music video that was filmed in Barcelona last month, and at the time of going to print it had amassed over 14,000 views on YouTube.

Explaining the idea behind the song, Saibh told The Echo: “‘So What?’ is about meeting someone and instantly feeling a connection.

“It’s about falling in love before you have even got to know someone.

“They might think you’re crazy, but you don’t care – you just want to embrace that stereotypical movie-like feeling and go for it.”

She added: “I was lucky enough to write this song with two other amazing songwriters.

“I love being able to sit down and express myself musically with other like-minded people.

“I think we created an amazing and truthful song.”

‘So What?’ has been streamed on Spotify over 17,000 times so far, with the number rising each day, and Saibh hopes it’s having an uplifting effect on listeners.

“I hope when people listen to this song they just let go and enjoy the moment,” said the past pupil of St Mac Dara’s Community College in Templeogue.

“Music is storytelling that you can dance to.

“I hope people listen to my story and can relate to it while also enjoying the music.”

‘So What?’ is out now on all streaming platforms, and Saibh is playing a headline show in Whelan’s Upstairs on April 22.
