
Social housing projects are up and running after easing of restrictions

CONSTRUCTION on a number of social housing projects in the Tallaght area are underway following the easing of restrictions, reports Aimee Walsh.
Following the opening of all construction sites earlier this month, commencement and recommencement of the development of social housing sites in Tallaght are underway.
Construction recommenced on the older-persons housing development at Fernwood
Construction recommenced on the site of a 40 unit older-persons housing development at Fernwood and Maplewood in Springfield on May 12.
The €9.5 million project is expected to be completed in early 2022, following delays due to Covid-19 restrictions.
The housing development at Catherine’s Row at Killinarden Heights has also commenced and is due to be finished in mid-2022.
The development will consist of seven three-bedroom, two-storey houses and six three-bed apartments which will be in a three-storey apartment block.
Entrance to the site
The official turning of the sod took place at the site of The Weir at Whitestown Way last week, which has been under construction for a number of weeks.
The project will consist of 81 houses and is a Clúid Housing Older Persons Specific Project.
The site at Brady’s Field in Old Bawn for age friendly housing is at detailed design stage and is underway to progress to tender later this year.
