Speed The Plow: Classic show comes to the Civic with Female lead roles
An all-new version of the classic satire ‘Speed the Plow’ will be brought to the Civic Theatre stage from April 5 to April 8.
The play, directed by Andy Crook, is a re-imagining of David Mamet’s 1980s hit play by the same name – however, the genders of the main protagonists are reversed.
Set in Hollywood where power is everything and morals are a commodity to be bought and sold, this production will examine the hierarchy from an alternative perspective.
With two females as the movie executives and a younger male, the plot is given an entirely different context.
The production’s cast includes Jolly Abraham (Elementary, Law & Order SVU), Tara Egan Langley (Harry Wild, The Fall) and Macleod Stephen (Staging the Treaty in the National Concert Hall).
The classic version of ‘Speed the Plow has been performed by such luminaries as William H Macy, Jeff Goldblum, Joe Mantegna, Elizabeth Moss, and is notable for marking Madonna’s stage debut.
Tickets for Andy Crook’s ‘Speed the Plow’ are available now for €25 each on the civic theater website HERE.
