ST ANNE’S Under 16 girls’ football team were singing in the rain in Bohernabreena on Sunday after claiming the Division Three League crown.

Played in terrible conditions, the game saw the Bohernabreena side turn in a fine performance as they brushed aside the challenge of Foxrock/Cabinteely 6-10 to 0-8 to secure the crown.

Anne’s adapted well to the poor conditions and in the first half registered a couple of important scores.
The hosts established a 5-8 to 0-0 lead at the break with Katie McNally scoring four goals and two points while Emma Donnelly chipped in with a goal and a point.

Anne’s started the contest well with Gemma Fogarty and Chloe Conroy Kearns landing points before McNally slotted home two quick-fire goals.

Iga Kirejko sent over two points before McNally and Emma Donnelly found the back of the net to stun Foxrock.

Anne’s finished the half strongly with McNally and Donnelly tagging on scores before McNally scored the final goal of the half.

Foxrock made a good go of it in the second half as they chipped in with seven points without reply.

Then Anne’s were awarded a penalty which was successfully converted by Leah Kirwan and McNally and Chloe Conroy Kearns added points as they ran out well-deserved winners.
