St Mary’s look to build on Division Three success

ST MARY’S senior footballers head into their championship campaign on a high note after their recent Division Three League success.

The Saggart side go head to head with St Vincent’s in Pairc Naomh Uinsionn after the Marino side were surprisingly relegated to the Senior 2 championship last year.

Mary’s won the Division Three league in dramatic style two weeks ago – requiring a four-point win over St Patrick’s, Donabate to claim top spot.

Jimmy Callaghan’s side in true Mary’s style won by five points with keeper George Kenny saving a penalty in the closing stages to secure the victory.

It was Mary’s second year to win the Division Three crown but there was no promotion last year due to Covid-19.

Mary’s will be aiming to build on their recent league success and will be looking to stalwarts like Blaine Kelly and Eoin Murray for leadership in attack.

Ciaran Dunne is another key member of the Mary’s set up while brothers Sean and Conor Jameson along with Peter Doyle doing well for the team.

Vincent’s will be favorites to secure the win with former Dubs star Diarmuid Connolly in their set-up, but Mary’s will be going all-out to cause an upset.

Mary’s are in a group with Parnells and Ballyboughal.
