STUDENTS from St Rose’s National School visited their local Lidl recently to collect a cheque for €1,000, which was donated to the Tallaght school through Lidl Ireland’s Community Group of the Week initiative.

Based in Balrothery, St Rose’s was chosen for its work in providing a child centred, stimulating and supportive environment for children with learning difficulties arising from dyslexia.

Through addressing the children’s literacy needs and providing a holistic education, the school supports each child in reaching their full potential – fostering self-esteem, independence, tolerances and respect for themselves and others.

Ruth Shanley, store manager of Lidl Fortunestown, said: “Myself and my team in Fortunestown are proud to have selected St Rose’s National School as our Community Group of the Week.

“Supporting and investing in local communities is something that Lidl is committed to and we are delighted to be able to make this contribution.”

The Community Group of the Week initiative is a new aspect of the Lidl Community Works programme.

Charity of the Week sees Lidl donate €1,000 every week for a year to local charities and groups across the country.
