‘Stalwart’ of Tidy Towns has left a lasting impact on her community

TRIBUTES have poured in over the last week for “Clondalkin stalwart” Breda Delaney.
A founding member of the Clondalkin Tidy Towns group, and former owner of a successful clothes shop on Main Street, Ms Delaney passed away on Friday, August 4, but left a lasting impact on the community.
A statement by Clondalkin Tidy Towns on their Facebook page said: “Last night we heard the very sad news that our great friend Breda Delaney had passed away.
"Breda was a founding member of Clondalkin Tidy Towns and was a very active member of our committee. Breda used her many years’ experience of running a local business to help us gain financial stability and progress into the group we are today.
“Many ‘old’ Clondalkinites will remember when Breda had a very successful ladies clothes shop on Main Street. It is said that people came from far and near to see what latest fashions Breda had in store.
“Breda will be sadly missed by us all, not just for her work with Clondalkin Tidy Towns, but for her great laugh, her drive to get things done and most of all, her amazing spirit. Sleep well, Breda.”
Messages of support from residents praised a “lovely lady” who ran a “magical shop.”
A post on RIP.ie said Breda was peacefully surrounded by her loving family at home.
It reads: “Beloved sister of Brendan, Dermot, Gay, Ann and the late Paddy. Sadly missed by her loving sister, brothers, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nephews, nieces, and her many friends.”
