THIS year has been stressful for the service industry but Tallaght salon Couture Beauty encourage clients to forget the worries of the world “even just for a few minutes.”

Located on High Street at Abberley Centre, the small business was forced to close for four months during the pandemic, but thankfully, the full compliment of six staff has been reinstated.

Owner Danielle Millea opened Couture Beauty in 2012 at the age of 24.

“I always knew going to beauty school that the end goal would be to try and open my own salon and that happened sooner rather than later,” said Danielle.

“Couture started out with only three on team Couture and now it has six of us and growing. We are nearly 10 years in and I hope to be doing this for another 10 years or more.”

Couture Beauty offer all types of treatments from CND shellac nails, pedicures gel/acrylic nails right up to advance skin treatments like micro-needling and skin peels.

They stock two major skincare care lines – Image skincare and Yonka – and have an extensive range of skin treatments to suit all different skin types.

“We offer every brow treatment under the sun from HD brows to brow lamination and our lash lift treatment is becoming very popular as now with every one wearing masks at the moment it’s all about the eyes. We use waxperts wax and every Tuesday it’s 30 per cent off all body waxing,” said Danielle.

Danielle attributes much of the success of the business to “hard work, amazing staff, and constantly moving with the times.”

“If you don’t keep moving you get left behind. It’s a salon that has luxury treatments at affordable prices and we never compromise when it comes to what brands we stock and we are constantly retraining. Couture beauty is your one stop shop for all your beauty needs.”

During lockdown, staff put in a lot of work to accommodate all the guidelines.

Danielle continued: “I literally started from scratch so everything is new in the salon. All equipment is brand new and the salon got a complete facelift. It looks better than ever.

“How we run is very different too. We are only allowed a certain capacity of clients in the salon at one time and we have no waiting area anymore so clients call when they are outside and we tell them when it’s safe to come in.

“I had done a few courses with LEO South Dublin during lockdown about opening back up with a small business, which was a great help.”

No doubt 2020 has been the “hardest year yet” for the salon.

“My little boy turned one the day I decided to close my business down, it was such a bitter sweet day, one I’ll never forget,” admitted Danielle.

“The uncertainty of the next few months/year is quite overwhelming. A lot of people have lost their jobs, weddings were called off, holidays cancelled, socialising wasn’t happening so that affects my kind of business.

“But when a client visits Couture Beauty we want them to just forget, even just for a few minutes, what’s happening out there and just feel normal for a while.”

Danielle used the lockdown to launch a new online store.

“Now you can purchase all your favourite Image and Yonka skincare products 24/7.

Also, since the salon reopened, we are doing two treatment offers with certain products discounted every single month.

Times are hard for everyone including ourselves and we want to make sure that these packages every month will allow people to look after themselves and have that hour or two to just switch off from everything.

We send out monthly emails and text messages so if you are not on our list you can email us on info@couturebeauty.ie to be added to our mailing list.”
