The Echo January Team of the Month: Griffith College Templeogue Women’s Basketball Team

EFFECTIVELY just two years competing in Women’s National League basketball, Griffith College Templeogue have already taken huge strikes.

The team not only reached the final of the Division One Cup last month, but have since qualified for the semi finals of the National League after finishing runners-up in the North Conference.

Awaiting them in the last four is the NUIG Galway team who undid them in the National Cup decider, and Templeogue Head Coach, Mark Byrne is looking forward to another crack at the South Conference winners.

“We’re really delighted with the progress the team has made” he told The Echo.

“We’ve been very close to the top teams in the league and we’re delighted to have an opportunity to play Galway again.

“We’re playing really well at the moment, finishing second in the league, so we’re going in with a bit of confidence and I’m optimistic that we’ll give a really good account of ourselves.”
