The future looks busy and bright for the Institute of Technology in Tallaght in 2017

The Institute of Technology Tallaght have an exciting 2017 coming up with new courses, building projects and a new round of students coming on board in September.

IT Tallaght has a very varied student body with students coming direct from second level via the CAO, Colleges of Further Education, a large number of mature students and an increasing number of international students.

Through facilities such as the Centre of Excellence in Learning and Teaching(CELT Office), the individual attention and assistance from academic staff and the overall positive learning experience in the college IT Tallaght are achieving above average completion rates accompanied by strong graduate employment statistics.

Last year, the 2016 computing graduates had a progression rate of 98% within 3 months in the ICT sector, with 93% going straight into employment with typical salaries in the region of €35,000 and a further 5% moving on to postgraduate study.

IBM was the single largest employer closely followed by SAP and Ergo Systems. Other employers were Sage, Intel, Bearing Point, PaddyPower, Microsoft, Dell, Guidewire, Allnone, Dell, ERS.

The college itself has 3 schools; Business & Humanities, Science & Computing and Engineering with a total of 41 courses across all levels.

With top class facilities such as an onsite Pharma lab, a range of 3D printers, a state of the art MAC lab, computing and engineering labs with industry standard equipment, a operational TV and radio studio and both a skills and production kitchen as well as a functioning restaurant for Culinary Arts students/ IT Tallaght has the tools in place to ensure we can produce top class graduates such as Andy McFadden, a Tallaght native and graduate of the Culinary Arts programme, who at the age of 26 was a Michelin Star head chef in L’Autre Pied in London.

The future for the college is bright and will be busy as they have just received approval for a €45m development on campus that will see the introduction of dedicated facilities for Sports Science and Culinary Arts & Hospitality programmes as well as an additional building to house lectures and tutorial space for the growing number of students across all disciplines.

The Institute of Technology in Tallaght is consistently evolving and improving its offering to students through developments to their programmes and facilities.

They are also evolving the course offerings to students in order to meet the rapidly changing industry requirements. With that in mind they have introduced two new courses this year; International Business and Engineering Software.

It is also very accessible for students as it is on the Red Luas line, offers free parking to students and Tallaght is serviced by over 13 different bus routes.
