The kids will love this Glendalough Excavation Dig and it’s FREE
If you’re interested in excavation and/or history then the Glendalough Volunteer Excavation in August is an ideal activity for you and the family.
As part of Glendalough Heritage Week, which runs from August 19th-27th, a volunteer dig managed by students from UCD’s School of Archaeology is taking place the week before.
After the huge success of the excavation at the Hell Fire Club there is sure to be huge interest in this event, and it will definitely be a fun filled activity for any young and inquisitive minds.
The dig runs from the August 8th-18th. This is a free event but does require booking. For further information please email glendaloughheritageforum@gmail.com .
The date of the 12th of August has been set aside for younger participants (13 – 17 year olds) who would like to try their hand at archaeology, but they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
For younger children interested in taking part, The Big Dig on August 19th is tailored for kids aged 5-12 years. The event will run from 11am-4pm.
Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and adults are welcome to try their hand at archaeology, but are equally welcome to sit and watch from the sidelines. This event is free but does require booking, which can be done so through Eventbrite HERE.
There are lots of other activities taking place to help celebrate Heritage Week in Glendalough, and you can check them all out HERE.
