A STRONG second half performance from Thomas Davis’ Under 14 footballers saw them scoop the Division Three crown – their first football Féile title in 12 years.

The Kiltipper Road side overcame a strong Westmanstown outfit 4-8 to 1-11 in Blakestown after battling their way back from four points down at the halftime break.

Westmanstown enjoyed the better of the exchanges in the opening period with Luke Curran, son of former Thomas Davis star Paul, scoring three points.

Just before the interval, Davis rallied and two points and a goal from Fionn Murray left only two points between them at the break.

Thomas Davis lifted their game in the second half and points from Fionn Murray, Bryan Keogh, Darragh Murphy, combined with goals from Murray and Murphy, rocked Westmanstown during an eight-minute purple patch.

Davis turned the game around completely as they went five clear with a fantastic goal from Kevin Mularkey leaving them well in command.

“This is brilliant for the team who have worked so hard,” said Thomas Davis mentor Jonny Jackson.
“The lads worked hard in training and it has all paid off,” he added.

In the group stages, Thomas Davis overcame Naomh Mearnog, Parnells and Westmanstown while in the semi-final the Kiltipper side beat Na Fianna.
