Thomp2 Socks give to charity as business grows

A FAMILY sock business, Thomp2 Socks, are donating 5 per cent of their profits to charities, including St John of Gods and Pieta as their business continues to grow.

Thomp2 Socks is based in Cookstown Industrial Estate and run by Ellensborough resident and entrepreneur Thomas Barry (36), who has Down syndrome, his dad Finbar and nephew Shane.

The business idea grew from Thomas’s dream of being self-sustainable with his own job and business, with Finbar and Shane coming on board to help Thomas establish a home-grown business which he is at the front and centre of.

As reported recently in The Echo, Thomp2 socks continued its success with the inclusion of its products in Arnotts Christmas gift shop. The company is now giving back as it grows to be an international leader and player, donating 5 per cent of its profits to charities.

“Our socks are designed to bring joy and happiness into people’s lives on a daily basis, but also to provide quality, comfort and longevity,” says MD Shane Barry.

“We take pride in the fact that our socks use only the best quality yarn and are created with state-of-the-art technology, using the highest needle count in the industry. So that just like Thomas’s dreams we can bring our designs to life through our socks.”

Now stocked in Arnotts as part of Pitch 21 and in a host of exclusive retailers as well as selling directly through their website, the company has set its sights on continued growth from their base.

The company is also hoping to expand its offering to corporate clients with bespoke designs.

To support this growth the company intends to increase and support local employment opportunities in the near future, including opportunities for those with disabilities who have struggled

to find fulfilling employment in the past.
